Awakened Living
Living unconsciously is simply forgetting the truth of who and what we are. When we’re asleep to our divine essence, we often find ourselves reacting from old patterns, past wounds, and deeply ingrained conditioning. In that state, we lose touch with the freedom to choose how we respond to life. We get swept up in unconscious reactions—frustration, blame, judgment—and we begin to believe that the external world is the cause of our suffering.
But here’s the deeper invitation: every moment of emotional pain, every time we feel triggered or upset, is not something to avoid—it’s a sacred signal. A divine alarm bell. These experiences aren’t obstacles on our path—they are the path. When we welcome them as our teacher rather than enemies, they guide us back to presence. They remind us to return to the truth.
Rather than getting caught in the details of our story or tangled in drama, we can pause, breathe, and shift into the witness. From that spacious awareness, we see clearly: we are not our thoughts, not our emotions, not the fleeting storms. We are the one who shines light on all of it.
Clear Signs of Un-Awakened Living
blaming others for our unwanted experiences
judging people or situations as “right/wrong,” or “good/bad”
wanting to control others
feeling superior or inferior
experiencing resistance to what is
getting emotionally triggered by what others are saying or doing
needing to express opinions
Clear Signs of Awakened Living
experiencing oneness and connection
choosing acceptance and understanding
feeling comfortable in our “skin”
understanding a deep sense of belonging
expressing authenticity and vulnerability
being unattached to outcomes
knowing a deep sense of purpose
Awakened living is not a destination—it’s a daily, moment-by-moment practice. There will be times when we’re deeply rooted in love and presence, when we feel completely aligned with the truth of our being. And there will be moments when we forget, when old patterns resurface and the clouds of unconscious thought move in. But even in those moments, we are not lost.
The sun never stops shining—sometimes it’s just hidden behind the clouds. The light of our true essence is always there, even when it feels obscured. As we deepen our practice of awareness, we learn to trust that clarity will return. We hold compassion for ourselves when the clouds come, knowing they are temporary.
In the words of Jiddu Krishnamurti, “The highest form of human intelligence is to observe yourself without judgment.” This is the heart of awakened living: to witness ourselves, lovingly and without condemnation. When we can do that, we step into true freedom.
